Enhancing Biodiversity Conservation

The Vietnam Environment Administration has kicked off the project “Enhancing biodiversity conservation through policy reform and changes to wildlife creature consumption in Vietnam" (WLC Project) funded by the Global Environment Facility via the World Bank.
 
The project will be the basis for a sustainable collaboration between key stakeholders involved in the process of changing the status of wildlife consumption in Vietnam and making positive changes to [public] awareness of wildlife conservation in particular and biodiversity conservation in general.
 
The project aims to strengthen and implement legal policies and frameworks more effectively; build and pilot information and reporting system on trafficking and illegal use of wild to serve management and enforcement of legal regulations on wildlife conservation; improve knowledge, enhance awareness and encourage support of the entire society for wildlife and biodiversity protection.
 
The project will be implemented three years (2011 - 2014) with a budget of US$1 million. Pilot will be carried out in Hanoi and implementation is made nationwide.
