Thyssenkrupp, a German Group, is organised into segments: Steel, Automotive, Elevator, Technologies and Services. Thirty-six per cent of sales are generated in Germany and the rest with customers abroad. The group is expanding its international operations in many areas and ThyssenKrupp companies and their products occupy leading positions in many international markets.

Today the Elevator segment generates around 90 per cent of its sales outside Germany, while foreign business accounts for 76 per cent of sales in Automotive. The group has a global workforce of 186,000 people, including 86,000 at around 700 ThyssenKrupp companies and associated holdings abroad.

ThyssenKrupp Elevator is the third largest elevator company in the world. Its core competencies are the installation, modernisation and servicing of elevators, escalators, star lifts and passenger boarding bridges. With over 800 branches in more than 60 countries, the segment ensures the reliable operation of more than 700,000 elevators, escalators and moving walkways, many of which ThyssenKrupp Elevators built and installed.

ThyssenKrupp has been considered one of the most important steel producers in the world market, with high technical capabilities and clear growth prospects. It occupies a leading international position in particularly demanding, value-added sectors. The Automotive segment is recognised as an innovative supplier and development partner to the automotive industry. ThyssenKrupp Automotive is the world market leader in body parts, engine components such as crankshafts and assembled camshafts and electronic, electric and mechanical steering columns and steering systems.

Machine-building and systems activities are brought together with a high level of engineering technology. The spectrum ranges from production systems for the automotive industry to plant construction to shipbuilding. In the Production Systems, Plant Technology, Marine and Mechanical Engineering businesses ThyssenKrupp supplies high-grade components, systems and plant along with related services. Plant Technology is one of the world’s leading engineering companies for the construction of chemical and industrial plants, focusing on the oil and gas technology, fertiliser, organic intermediate, flue gas desulphurisation and pharmaceutical plant sectors. Plant Technology also enjoys worldwide success in the cement and mineral industry, in coke plants and energy technologies and with environmentally friendly technologies for the mining of coal and ore.

Services, mainly for the manufacturing and processing industries, include maintenance, production support, plant and equipment erection and maintenance services and facility management as well as warehousing and logistics solutions.

Thyssen Industries AG established a representative office in Vietnam 1995 and Krupp AG in 1996. After the merger of the two companies in Germany, the ThyssenKrupp AG representative office in Vietnam was established in 1999. Since then the Group has actively been operating in steel, elevator, technologies and services. Products of special interest to Vietnam are different kinds of steel, cement plants, elevators and material handling equipment, to mention just a few. ThyssenKrupp AG is also actively promoting equipment to the shipbuilding industry as well as insulation and corrosion protection to the oil and gas industry. Another field of interest is equipment for the rubber tyre industry as well as edible oil refining plants. With most of the equipment coming from Germany and with a presently strong Euro, ThyssenKrupp is constantly looking into the possibility of local fabrication of certain components.

According to Mr. Jan-Olof Johansson, Chief Representative for Vietnam, ThyssenKrupp looks favourably on the future of Vietnam with its high GDP growth of 7-7.5 per cent, relatively young population and large number of infrastructure and other projects on the horizon.
