NANTA Performance in Vietnam

To welcome the ASEM 5 Summit Meeting in Hanoi (October 8-10, 2004) and the official visit of President Roh Moo-Huyn of the Republic of Korea (October 10-12), the Nanta art troupe (ROK) will give performances in Hanoi’s Friendship Cultural Palace (September 24-25) and Ho Chi Minh City’s Hoa Binh Theatre (September 30-October 1).

Nanta is an art troupe using traditional Korean music instruments as well as some unlikely objects, to present an impressive dramatic programme. The performance interests people of all ages, combining unique Korean art with Western style performance. Nanta animates the stage, turning it into a huge kitchen with four chefs hysterically preparing for a wedding party. While cooking, they turn many kitchen utensils including a pot, pan, spoon, knife and even a broom into musical instruments!

Nanta art troupe began in 1997 and since then has performed in 141 cities in 17 countries. Its members are graduates of Korean performance art with at least 3 years experience, introducing Korean performance art to all cultures of the world including Vietnamese culture.
