Song Da No.10 Company - Preparing for International Integration

Song Da No.10 was established in 1981 as a member company of Song Da Corporation, with main functions of: building underground structures, hydro-electrics, irrigation, transportation works, industrial and civil engineering and interior decoration; manufacturing concrete and metal components, auxiliaries and spare parts for construction; engineering and repairing automobile and motorbikes; exporting materials, tools and spare parts for building and repairs and many other fields of business.

Along with its rapid development in the general construction field, Song Da No.10 has made remarkable achievements. It is a company which is frequently assigned and successfully fulfils key national works, such as the main tunnels of Hoa Binh and Yaly hydroelectric plants (the two largest hydro-electric plants in Vietnam) and road tunnels across Hai Van and Ngang passes.

Human resources are considered a key factor in the company’s success. During the last few years, along with promoting technology and exchanging equipment, the company has also taken care to train its personnel for the company’s future development, and so staff can keep pace with international developments.

This personnel policy is reflected in the motto “Furthering the heroic tradition, we must improve and renew, in which human resources are the main target for higher and higher productivity, faster implementation progress and greater effectiveness!” At the moment, there are 300 engineers of many fields together with 2,300 technical workers, enough to implement any customer requirements.

With the motto “clients’ needs must be satisfied to the highest level” and with a reputation for quality implementation, within the first six months of 2004 despite the poor situation of Vietnam’s construction industry, caused by rising input costs, the company’s total value still reached VND210.081 billion – accounting for 47.3 per cent of the annual plan – in which construction implementation accounted for 83.8 per cent and manufacturing for 16.2 per cent.

Revenue stands at VND134.854 billion while the profit is VND3,409 billion  for this period. This result proves the efforts of the entire company staff and provided a good start for the plan for the remaining six months of the year, which had been assigned by the Corporation. However, for better development and to assist progress towards international integration, the Song Da No.10 Company also defined that capital-recovery tasks are as important as production duties. It is trying to recover capital and grow the primary fund along with reducing debts and reserving capital for technology renewal. These are important conditions to meet in order for the company to integrate with the international economy.
