The Danish biggest producer of workwear – Mascot– officially set up its presence in Vietnam in the spring of 2008 by opening its first garment factory in Hai Duong province with investment capital of US$10 million. In 2011 and 2012 Mascot Vietnam opened two more factories in Hai Duong, bringing the investment to around USD 20 mio. The production facilities has a total area of 20.000 square meters with state of the art equipment & European management, offers 1600 jobs for local laborers.
For over 4 years, Mascot International Vietnam has experienced a rapid growth in turnover as well as revenue. In 2010, the company gained a growth rate of 20%. Also in this year, Mascot was awarded the Customer Value Enhancement Award among 700 European manufacturers of workwear.
Mascot International Vietnam Is Denmark’s biggest producer of high quality work and winter wear, and one of the biggest in Europe. The company also manufactures and markets high quality safety footwear for craftsmen and industry.
In the entire process of operation, to ensure high quality of raw materials and components for production, Mascot International Vietnam has invested in a 7000 square meter raw material warehouse; this is also the global raw material storage facility and quality control of the company. With this facility, the company manages all procurement and ensures 100 percent quality control. The warehouse is also the nerve center of its global raw material logistics and a source of materials for other sewing facilities in other countries.
Mr Thomas Bo Perdersen, Managing Director of Mascot International Vietnam revealed that with positive business results in Vietnam, the company would continue to expand its investment in Vietnam.
Apart from doing business, Mascot International Vietnam also puts a strong focus on CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility). At its sewing facility, the company offers an appealing working environment with good salary, healthy and free food, providing all information on preventative measures including infectious diseases, good eating habits or other personal hygiene, etc. In 2008, Ministry of Planning & Investment and Hai Duong People’s Committee gave Mascot the special award for its commitment to principles of CSR in Vietnam
One important factor in the process of constructing project in Vietnam is that Mascot has shared its experience in safety systems with local authorities and Vietnamese contractors.
Moreover, it is a business philosophy of Mascot that to work closely with local community where it locates factory. Mascot is the first foreign company in Vietnam to have a bonded warehouse.
For years, Mascot has expanded cooperation with many Vietnamese partners from the North to the South of Vietnam. Due to strong growth of the company, Mascot in the future hopes to work with more suppliers and to make Vietnam a crucial place for its global production activities and this will make Mascot become more competitive in the market.
