VN, Holland Prioritize Energy Cooperation

As an energy-rich country, Viet Nam welcomes foreign resources to sustainably develop the domestic energy sector, said Deputy PM Hoang Trung Hai.
 
Deputy PM Hai made the remark on November 27 while co-chairing a CEO conference on energy cooperation between Viet Nam and the Netherlands with Dutch Minister of Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation Lilianne Ploumen.
 
Mr Hai hoped that Minister Lilianne Ploumen would continue to support Dutch businesses to strengthen their footholds in Viet Nam and enhance cooperative programs and development projects in priority areas including climate change, water management, agriculture, energy, seaports and logistics.
 
Minister Lilianne Ploumen lauded the Vietnamese Government for surmounting the financial crisis and economic recession. Viet Nam, a merely recipient country has become a development partner of the Netherlands with vast potentials.
 
The Dutch Minister said that she supported the bilateral cooperation in the five priority aspects especially energy through the organization of the CEO conference on energy which drew the attendance of leading giants including Shell, Furgo, Evides Water and Global Energy.
 
A large number of Dutch CEOs expressed their beliefs in business opportunities in Viet Nam and raised their comments on the investment environment.
 
Viet Nam, said Deputy PM Hai respects for and promises to create favorable conditions for Dutch businesses to do long-term business there.
 
The Netherlands is one of the biggest European investors of Viet Nam, ranking 11th among 96 countries and territories. Dutch businesses have involved in big projects like Mong Duong thermal power plant (US$2.1 billion) and Phu My 3 power plant (US$410 million).
