Toolkit for Planning and Managing Dong Van Tourism Development Adopted

On November 21- 22 2012, the Management Board of Dong Van Karst Plateau Global Geopark cooperated with Dong Van District People’s Committee to implement the Toolkit for Planning and Managing Tourism Development at UNESCO heritages and conservation areas recognised by UNESCO of Dong Van.

 

Mr Ma Ngoc Giang, Deputy Head of Management Board of Dong Van Karst Plateau Global Geopark, stated that Dong Van District has been recognised as a place for pilot implementation of the Toolkit. Reception and implementation of the Toolkit will contribute to improving professional expertise, meeting the demand for standardising the capacity of the cultural management officials in the district in planning and managing tourism development, as well as enhancing cooperation among relevant parties in the planning process of for tourism development and creating favourable conditions for the community to participate in and benefit from tourism activities. This will form the basis for developing tourism management strategies for other heritages within the Geo Park area in the future.

 

Mr Nguyen Duc Tinh, Deputy Chairman of Dong Van District People’s Committee, committed to providing assistance in terms of technical facilities for to organization of workshops in the district and giving instructions to concerned units and localities to participate in training, development of plans and reviewing, amendment and provision of guidelines for the district’s tourism development strategy. The Toolkit is now implementing has got its first phase implemented. This phase is designed to develop messages used by tour guides to introduce Dong Van’s tourism to tourists with the aim to attracting an ever increasing number of tourists to the area.
