“Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is not a new thing. By doing the right things, even they are little, companies can take lot of profits”, said Mr Florian Beranek, CTA VCCI-UNIDO CSR Project in the regional CSR conference named: “CSR practice towards sustainable development” recently held in Vung Tau city. The aim of the project is on one hand achieved by raising the awareness and understanding of companies and organizations and on the other hand by educating national experts, including local advisors.
The conference was organised by the United Nations Industrial Development Organisation (UNIDO), the Office for Business Sustainable Development (SD4B) - Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) together with VCCI – Vung Tau Branch within the framework of the project “Helping Vietnamese SMEs Adapt and Adopt CSR for Improved Linkages with Global Supply Chains in Sustainable Production” funded by European Union (EU).
The conference discussed many topics, including: CSR – Current issue of responsible business, Seafood processing enterprises and CSR; Using local culture, tradition and know-how as a driver for innovation and job-creation in Cao Bang Province, UNIDO reap26 programmes, CSR Marketplace and CSR experiences in the Petro-Industry.
Mr Florian Beranek, CTA VCCI-UNIDO CSR Project said: “CSR brings useful profits for their family, their children and their company first. Participants also know what the best thing to do is and what is more important compared with other at the same time. For example, to save energy, people should consider between opening the door or changing the bulbs”.
“A strategic approach to CSR is increasingly important to the competitiveness of enterprises, helping them to create value for both owners and shareholders … to win the trust and respect of citizens, partners in particularly and society in general”, added Mr Florian Beranek.
In order to enhance local sustainable development, Mr Le Van Lang from National University for Agriculture, Aquaculture and Forestry, HCMC said: “Vung Tau is well-known for seafood processing and some kind of fishes are exported to developed countries”. One of 6 topics in CSR, the presentation on “Using local culture, tradition and know-how as a driver for innovation and job-creation in Cao Bang Province” was introduced by Mr Dirk Salewski, Expert in client-concepts business consulting educational, Germany.
