HCM City’s Export Turnover Hits US$30.25 Billion in 2012
Ho Chi Minh City, the biggest economic centre in Vietnam, earned US$30.25 billion from exports in 2012, up 7.36 per cent year on year. The domestic economic sector accounted for 70.9 per cent, or US$21.45 billion, while the FDI sector generated US$8.8 billion, up 14.87 per cent.
Five exports raked in more than US$1 billion each, including garments - textiles, electrical - electronic products, rice, footwear and rubber.
The city saw a rise in manufactured items and a reduction in crude items in its export structure.
In addition, the city's export markets keep expanding. To date, its exports have made present in 228 countries and territories, an increase of four markets over 2011. Currently, the city has 18,000 exporters and importers.
