Agro-Forestry, Fishery Exports Expand Over 30 Percent
Exports of agro-forestry and fishery products were estimated at US$4.83 billion in the first two months of 2013, up 31.5 percent against the same period last year, according to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural.
In the January-February period, agricultural exports were estimated at US$2.57 billion, a year-on-year increase of 27.9 percent; aquatic products, US$876 million, up 11.6 percent; and forestry products, US$876 million, up 36.2 percent.
Rice was the key agricultural export line with 677,000 tons, bringing home US$310 million, which represented a rise of 68.2 percent in volume but a drop of 15.4 percent in value against the same period last year.
As many as 70,000 tons of rubber was shipped abroad during the time, gaining US$518 million, showing a decrease of 31.5 percent in volume but an increase of 16.6 percent in value in comparison with the same period in 2012.
Aquatic exports were estimated at US$876 million, up 11.6 percent.
