Besides pilgrimage tours after the Tet Holiday, Vietnamese tourism companies launched several holiday tour packages on the occasion of International Women’s Day, March 8th, with great discount rates to attract customers. Discount rates can be up to 40 percent depending on different markets.
The reason for such large price reduction, according to travel companies, is that tourism agencies have strong relations and close partners such as airlines, restaurants, hotels, etc. to reduce the cost of holiday tours to stimulate tourist demand in the context of the economic crisis. Offering cheap tours is also a way to help businesses enhance their images and attract tourists.

Besides many preferential policies and practical gifts from partners specialising in beauty and healthcare, Saigontourist discounts 15 percent of tours in the country for all female customers buying tours on the period from 25th February to 5th March, and departing from 5th March to 10th March. It also reduces by VND200,000 foreign tour packages purchased from 25th February to 1st March and departing from 3rd March to 8th March.

Meanwhile, Vietravel is offering some local tours with great discount promotions for tourists, such as Dalat (3 days) departing on 8th March, 2013 at the price of VND1,450,000 a person (VND 1 million, or 45 percent off); Nha Trang (3 days, by aircraft) departing on 8th March, 2013 at the price of VND4,290,000 a person (VND2 million off); Hanoi - Yen Tu-Ha Long - Sapa – Den Do (6 days) departing on 7th March at the price of VND11,590,000 VND a person (VND2.5 million off); and Hanoi - Sapa - Dien Bien - Son La - Moc Chau (6 days) departing on 5th March, 2013 at the price of VND 10,290,000 a person (VND 3 million off).

In addition, Vietravel also offers shopping, cuisine and beauty vouchers worth from VND50,000 to VND1,000,000 at intimate partner systems of Vietravel for female customers when buying tours at the Registration Desk of Vietravel. Specifically, female customers will be offered vouchers worth VND100,000 to 1,000,000; VND50,000 to 150,000; VND100,000 to 250,000 in Ho Chi Minh city, Da Nang and Hanoi, relatively.

Meanwhile, Hanoi Redtours has launched a series of spring tours to several attractive destinations with preferential prices, meeting the demand of many customers, from the elderly, families with small children to the young. Hanoi Redtours offers preferential prices, standard services, 3 to 4 star hotels near travel centres, and stable schedules. Particularly, the company is reducing prices by 25 – 40 percent of the tours’ value, with 10 percent discounts on tour packages for senior members of the Mobifone program, and VND500,000 off for female customers signing up for tours from now until the end of March 8th.

Golden Tours & Convention also committed to cut domestic tour prices by 40 percent for female guests on the occasion of International Women’s Day. In particular, this travel agency is also associating with the Department of Tourism of Malaysia to promote tours to Malaysia to watch the F1 Formula Tournament from 23rd to 25th March with discounts of up to US$200, together with many attractive promotional gifts for travellers departing in March.

Mr Pham Tien Dung, Director of Golden Tour & Convention, shared that to have an interesting trip, tourists should be well prepared early. The earlier they book tours, the better service quality they will enjoy. Particularly, for almost one year, the Ministry of Finance has offered a 50 percent discount on tickets to visit cultural and historical monuments, museums and scenic spots for Vietnamese citizens age 60 or above. Airlines agencies also have ticket discounts for seniors. Tourists should consider flight hours and flight conditions, since cheap flights often don’t offer free meals, to pick appropriate tours.
