Over the past nearly 40 years of construction and development, the entire staff of Loc Ninh Rubber Company Limited (LORUCO), from generation to generation, has united to build and strengthen LORUCO into a leading rubber company in Vietnam. Tasked to plant, tend, harvest, process and sell rubber products on the State-allocated land and small local rubber plantations, the company has effectively cared for and ensured good material and spiritual life for workers, maintained political security and social order, and joined in social security and welfare work.
Currently, the company manages 10,332 ha of rubber (excluding 5,000 ha of rubber in Cambodia), of which 6,327 ha are in harvest in Loc Ninh and Bu Dop districts. LORUCO has 13 member units, including eight plantations, one mechanical - processing enterprise, one construction and installation enterprises, one healthcare centre, and one subsidiary, Vketi - Cambodia Company with 11 departments. The firm has 4,679 employees, of whom nearly 300 workers are from ethnic minorities. LORUCO has actively taken part in social and community development activities, especially labour relation and environmental protection.
Towards green environment
LORUCO always regards environmental protection as a key task in business activities. The company reclaimed and revitalised wartime bombarded “dead” hills to grow rubber trees - a move not only toward economic development, but also to revitalise bare hills and improve the environment. The firm has invested over VND40 billion to build and operate water treatment systems in two processing plants in accordance with biotech processing methods developed by the Vietnam Rubber Research Institute. This technology does not use chemicals or energy inputs to operate (electricity and water), but is totally reliant on biological methods, based on three key metabolic processes of pollutants affected by microbiological fermentation and anaerobic oxidation. The discharged water meets treated industrial wastewater requirements. According to the conclusion of the Department of Natural Resources and Environment of Binh Phuoc Province, water discharged into the environment from the company’s two processing plants meets Vietnamese standards and discharged water can be reusable. Besides, the "Green - Clean - Beautiful" movement is launched and maintained by the company. Head office, plantations, enterprises, factories, and huts are always keep clean, green and good-looking.
Human is the key element
The company always views its staff as an invaluable asset. It annually invests a handsome sum of money into personnel training, sending them to long-term and short-term training courses and opening in-house training classes to improve managerial skills, cultivation and tendering techniques, and master new equipment and technology. To date, 133 employees have graduated from universities and colleges, 305 have finished vocational intermediate schools, and 4,241 have completed occupational training classes. Four employees are now pursuing university degrees and nearly 100 are studying at intermediate classes. Many others are studying at different classes.
Every year, the company opens skills training courses for latex workers and rubber processing workers. To strengthen the loyalty of employees, the company pays special attention to taking care of the material and spiritual life for employees. The average monthly income of an employee in 2012 was VND8.3 million.
Successful not only in working out business production strategies, the company is also famous for its contributions to local social and economic development. It has donated VND40 billion to assist localities to build social projects like roads, power lines, schools, and clinics. The company also presents gifts in kind and in cash for Agent Orange victims and other unfortunate people. It also generates jobs for thousands of local people in mountainous and border areas. These practical deeds link the corporate sustainable development to social community.
