Japan Becomes Vietnam’s Largest Investor

The Foreign Investment Agency (FIA) under the Ministry of Planning and Investment said Vietnam attracted US$8.51 billion of foreign direct investment (FDI) capital, both from new projects and existing projects, in the first five months of 2013, up 8.9 per cent year on year.
 
Among 40 countries and territories with investment capital in Vietnam in the reporting period, Japan was the biggest investor with US$3.69 billion, accounting for 43.4 per cent of total investment, followed by Singapore with US$2.35 billion, or 27.7 per cent. Russia ranked third with more than US$1 billion, accounting for 11.9 per cent.
