Vietnam’s Wind Power Potential 20 Times of Current Capacity
The World Bank (WB) built wind-to-power potential maps for Vietnam, Thailand, Laos and Cambodia. According to the mapping result, Vietnam’s wind power potential can exceed 500,000 MW, much greater than that of regional countries.
As of May 2013, more than 50 wind-to-power projects were licensed in Vietnam, mostly located in the central and southern region. However, to this point, only three plants are generating commercial power.
