New Investment Opportunities in Cuba

In the framework of the 31st meeting of the Vietnam - Cuba Intergovernmental Cooperation Commission, the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) will join hands with the Cuban Embassy in Hanoi to organise a seminar called “the Mariel Economic Development Zone (ZEDM) - New investment opportunities in Cuba” in Hanoi on September 18, 2013.

 

ZEDM is a complex of sizeable projects consisting of the construction of the first economic development zone in Cuba and modernisation of Mariel deepwater port. This is a good investment opportunity for Vietnamese enterprises, particularly those operating in construction, building materials transportation, forwarding, export processing, to access special preferences in tariffs and warehousing systems to make inroads into the Latin American market. Mr Rodrigo Malmierca, Minister of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment and Co-chair of Vietnam - Cuba Intergovernmental Cooperation Commission, will attend and speak at the seminar. In addition, Cuban companies with current business relationships with Vietnam in rice and pharmaceutical will also attend the event.

 

According to VCCI, this is a good opportunity for Vietnamese enterprises to seek new cooperation and investment opportunities in Cuba in particular and Latin America in general.
