ADB Supports Two Transport Projects in Vietnam

Mr Nguyen Van Binh, Governor of State Bank of Vietnam (SBV) and Mr James Nugent, General Director of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) in Southeast Asia recently signed agreements on loans and non-refundable aids worth US$624 million for two important transport infrastructure projects in Mekong Delta and production infrastructure in the Central Highlands.
 
The project of connecting the centre of the Mekong Delta has total investment capital of US$886 million, of which ADB funds US$410 million from the ordinary capital resources (OCR); the Australian Government provides US$160 million via Australian Agency for International Development (AusAid) entrusted to ADB management; Korean Government finances US$260 million through the Export-Import Bank of Korea (Keximbank) and local counterpart capital is US$56 million.
 
The above project aims to strengthen transport connections in the Mekong Delta and form a path from Ho Chi Minh City to the provinces in the southern coastal region.
The project of rural infrastructure development for production of the Central Highlands has a total investment of US$87.58 million, of which, ADB finances US$80 million from its preference loan resources (ADF).
