Vietnam Elected Member of UN Human Rights Council
Vietnam was elected by the United Nations General Assembly to become one of 14 new members of its Human Rights Council for the first time.
It got 184 voters out of a total of 192, the highest among the candidates, a recognition by the international community for its recent achievements in this field.
In this new role, it is expected to work directly and responsibly to ensure and promote human rights in Vietnam and the world during the three year tenure 2014 – 2016.
