How SMEs Benefit from FTAs
Vietnam has now fully engaged in the process of trade liberalisation specified in free trade agreements with ASEAN and ASEAN with six partner countries of Japan, South Korea, China, Australia, New Zealand and India. This creates many opportunities but also causes numerous difficulties and challenges to Vietnamese enterprises like nontariff barriers, regulations on quality standards, origin of exports, especially in 2015 when the ASEAN Economic Community is established.
To support businesses, associations, organisations and agencies concerned to understand benefits, opportunities and challenges and effectively take advantage of free trade agreements signed with ASEAN and between ASEAN and six partners countries mentioned above, the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) in collaboration with the International Institute for Sustainable Development (IISD), the ASEAN Business Advisory Council, the Foreign Office, and the Commonwealth of the United Kingdom will hold a workshop on "Small and medium enterprises- SMEs in Vietnam and ASEAN market opportunities with the free trade agreements- FTAs" on December 4, 2013 in Hanoi.
