President Truong Tan Sang said on February 11 while touring the Hanoi southern supporting industrial park (HANSSIP), the first-ever large-scale complex of industrial hubs and urban services specializing in the supporting industry in Vietnam.
According to N&G Development and Investment Corporation (N&G Corp), located in Dai Xuyen commune, Phu Xuyen district with site clearance concluded and an infrastructure ramp-up in progress, HANSSIP will cover a total area of 650 hectares.
Once concluded, it will be a “golden destination” for about 3,000 domestic and international support enterprises manufacturing machinery, garments and textiles, leather shoes, electronics, and computers, as well as automobile assembly and other fields, thus creating jobs for 300,000 workers, and contributing around VND15,000-20,000 billion for the State budget annually.
It also plans to expand a further 2,000 hectares in the southern gateway to the capital - a strategic area lying between Phap Van – Cau Gie highway and National road No.1A.
Besides, HANNSIP sub-investors will be given special incentives and assistance for financing, recruitment, training, technology transfer, and sales.
In the second quarter of this year, it is expected to welcome as many as 30 high-profile producers like Nidec, Takako from Japan and Hanel, Thang Long Mechanical Equipment Co.,Ltd from Vietnam.
Holding a working session with the city authorities and several business owners following the tour, the President said the national economy needs to quickly transform itself from a sub-contractor to a manufacturer if it is to integrate into regional and world economies. Supporting industry plays an important role for the nation’s industrialization and modernization progress, which helps Vietnam to basically become a modern-oriented industrialized country by 2020.
Hailing the ongoing construction of infrastructure, President Sang asked for all possible support to put HANSSIP into operation as soon as possible, including taxation mechanisms.
These are vital components as Vietnam faces both opportunities and challenges when joining free trade agreements with ASEAN, and ASEAN-China in 2015, as well as forthcoming results of Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) negotiations.
He also asked the city to focus on infrastructure ramp-up, human resources development and renewal of regulations.
Delegates expressed hope that bottlenecks involving capital and tax policies will be cleared soon. At the same time, more efforts are also needed to lure greater investment and open vocational training courses.
On this occasion, State President Truong Tan Sang and Chairman of the Hanoi city People’s Committee Nguyen The Thao planted a commemorative tree on the campus of the park.
