ASEAN and Japan Young Entrepreneurs to Strengthen Trade and Economic Ties
The “Forum on ASEAN-Japan Young Entrepreneurs: Partnership for Growth” was convened in Siem Reap, Cambodia, further strengthening trade and economic ties between ASEAN and Japan, and generating new innovative ideas among others.
The Forum raised concerns on preparedness for an increasingly competitive environment under the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC). The Forum encouraged the “blue ocean strategy” to be adopted and looked into more complementarity and partnership with entrepreneurs from different countries. The participants agreed that the role of the private sector, young entrepreneurs and women will enormously increase once AEC is established in 2015.
The young entrepreneurs also noted that the upcoming Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) could be translated into massive purchasing power, which would be an attractive opportunity for them.
The event was graced by H.E. Pan Sorasak, Secretary of State Ministry of Commerce of Cambodia, and participated by successful young entrepreneurs from all ASEAN Member States and Japan.
This Forum is one of the two commemorative activities which are proposed by Prime Minister Hun Sen of Cambodia at the 16th ASEAN-Japan Summit in October 2013, and supported by Prime Minister Shinzo Abe of Japan. It was organised by Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MFAIC) of Cambodia, with support from Japan-ASEAN Integration Fund (JAIF).ASEAN-Japan Summit in October 2013, and supported by Prime Minister Shinzo Abe of Japan.
