Tay Thien is compared to a paradise, with a strong pull on Buddhist pilgrims who wish to discover the wonderful landscape where Buddhist culture and Mother-worshipping culture interfere. Tay Thien is a land hallmarked with ancient cultural traits, spectacular natural scenery hiding lots of mysteries.
Situated on Thach Ban Mount in the Tam Dao Mountain Range, according to legends, King Hung the Sixth, also called Hung Chieu Vuong, climbed to Thien An Pagoda on the peak of Tam Dao Mountain to pray for a child and he met Lady Lang Thi Tieu on the way to his home and married her. After that, Khuong Tang Hoi, an Indian Zen, chose to stay here to teach Buddhism on his journey to the East.
Today, with a lot of cultural belief relics, Tay Thien National Mother Pagoda Relic symbolises the Mother-worshipping belief of the ancient Vietnamese. Lying on the peak of Thach Ban Mount of the Tam Dao Mountain Range, the temple was rebuilt on the foundation of the biggest temple constructed in the Le Dynasty in the 16th-17th century. Tam Dao Mountain is formed by three peaks, namely Thach Ban, Thien Nhi and Phu Nghia. Visiting the Buddhist land to venerate the Tay Thien National Mother, you will feel like returning to the roots of national construction and protection history of Vietnamese people. Here, Tam Dao Resort was built by Frenchmen in the early 19th century and Tam Down was a mountain town in the 1940s with 145 gorgeously luxury buildings and villas. These villas, built in different architectures, are now in ruins. French-styled Tam Dao Cathedral, built in 1937, is an interesting place for those who love the beauty of ancient architecture. This is the only intact architecture.
Nature bestows the amazingly romantic, majestic and mysterious scenery on Tam Dao in the cloud. Flower forests cover mountainside houses.
