Germany is also a big trade partner with an annual two-way trade turnover exceeding US$10 billion. However, the two countries have not fully tapped their potential.

Minister Vinh said Vietnam wants to strengthen close economic cooperation with Germany, including energy, green technology, industry, public transport, finance, banking, consumer goods agricultural products and seafood.

Vice Chancellor Sigmar Gabriel said high economic growth, rapid-growing demand in many fields and political stability are magnetising German businesses to Vietnam.

He said “German companies are snow showing deep interests in Vietnam. Economic recovery, which also embraces industry and construction, coupled with efforts to reform the investment and business climate is encouraging foreign businesses, including Germans, to invest in Vietnam. If you have clear investment licensing procedures transparent legal system and favourable infrastructure, you will be not only able to attract large corporations but also draw small and medium-sized businesses from Germany to make long-term investment.”

At the dialogue, Minister Bui Quang Vinh and German Vice Chancellor Sigmar Gabriel signed a joint statement on business training cooperation programme in the 2014-2016 between the Ministry of Planning and Investment and the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy.
