AFD, MoF Sign Credit Agreement on Climate Change Response
French Ambassador to Vietnam Jean-Noël Poirier, Vietnamese Deputy Finance Minister Truong Chi Trung and French Development Agency (AFD) in Vietnam Director Rémi Genevey signed a EUR20 million credit agreement for the fifth phase of the “Support Programme to Respond to Climate Change” (SP-RCC) in Hanoi.
SP-RCC is designed to support various Vietnamese sectors in effectively responding to climate change and promoting low carbon development models. The financing is based on discussion results on policies and reforms approved.
SP-RCC was initiated by AFD and Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) in 2009 with the aim to provide financial and technical support to Vietnam in actively adapting and responding to climate change. Later, many international donors, including the World Bank (WB), have participated in the programme.
With the new loan, AFD has so far provided EUR100 million for the fifth phase of the SP-RCC.
