The Construction and Investment Joint Stock Company No. 18 (Licogi 18), founded on May 19, 1961 in Quang Ninh province, was twice named the hero of the nation: Hero of People’s Armed Forces (1998) and Labour Hero (2000). The company was also awarded the First-class Independence Order, Labour Order and many other honours.
Currently, Licogi 18 is a holding company with seven member companies, including four subsidiaries and one single-member limited liability company. With the nationwide business presence, Licogi 18 now has 266 officers, masters and engineers and 939 skilled technicians.
In the past 50 years, Licogi 18 has built more than 800 works, including many monumental projects like the Conference Building of Government, International Convention Centre, 5-star Horison Hotel, Diplomatic Quarters, Bach Mai Hospital, Hai Duong Hospital, BIDV Quang Ninh Branch, Hai Duong Gymnasium, Nha Trang Shipyard, 50,000-tonne Nam Trieu Pier, Pha Lai Thermal Power Plant, Uong Bi Thermal Power Plant, Cao Ngan Thermal Power Plant, Tri An Hydro Power Plant, Son La Hydro Power Plant, Huong Dien Hydro Power Plant, Bac Ha Hydro Power Plant, A Vuong Hydro Power Plant, Vietnam-Australia Steel Mill, Daewoo - Hanel High Tech Park, Ford Motor Factory, Tiger Brewery, Hai Duong Water Plant, Tra Khuc Bridge, Thu Thiem Bridge, Han Bridge, Chanh Bridge, Ta Ban Bridge and National Road 2.

Currently, Licogi 18 has defined its mission of developing the company in a sustainable manner, sharpening competitive edge, effectively mobilising and using resources such as capital, technology and personnel to maximise profitability, increase dividends for shareholders, and create stable jobs for workers. To become a leading company in civil and industrial construction, and property investment and business, Licogi targets at average annual growth of 10 percent and annual dividend rate of 13-15 percent.
According to the development strategy for the next phase, Licogi 18 will diversify its business lines and expand existing business scopes like civil and industrial construction, hydropower and thermoelectric construction, traffic route and port construction, real estate business investment, and building material production. Besides, the company will enhance its cooperation with domestic companies to strengthen competitiveness and strengthen its brand name on the market. In addition, the company will upgrade its construction technology, modernise construction machines and equipment to meet customers’ requirements.
In 2014, the company’s production value totalled VND1,284 billion, 35.3 percent higher than the yearly plan, and its revenue grossed VND1,315 billion, 55.6 percent in excess of the full-year plan, and the profit reached VND24.4 billion, 12.4 percent above the yearly plan. These better-than-expected results were attributed to the company’s proactive measures to cope with difficulties and utilise advantages and potential to sustain growth.
In the first six months of 2015, the company fetched the production value of VND709.2 billion, equal to 61.7 percent of the full-year plan, made revenue of VND558 billion, equal to 46 percent of the early plan, and earned net profit of VND15.9 billion, or 58 percent of the plan.
In Hai Duong province, Licogi has built many important projects. Currently, the company is building affordable houses for low-income people and workers in Hai Duong City and constructing Bac Cau Han new urban zone in the province.
