Recently, the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) hosted a solemn event to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the letter sent by President Ho Chi Minh to the business circle, and respond to the First Patriotic Emulation Congress of the Business Sector and Entrepreneur Force (2015-2020).
In the spirit of "Convergence - Enrichment - National Construction," the First Patriotic Emulation Congress of the Business Sector and Entrepreneur Force (2015-2020) reviewed and evaluated the patriotic emulation movement of business community and entrepreneurs in five years from 2010 to 2015; praised and honoured outstanding examples in production and business activities; and defined objectives and orientations for the upcoming time. The Congress also launched the patriotic emulation movement in the business community to stimulate innovations, leverage opportunities, overcome challenges, build and develop a strong business community for Vietnam as expected in Resolution 09 of Politburo.

In the past years, the patriotic emulation movement in the business sector and entrepreneur force in general and in VCCI in particular has been elevated to a new high. Directive 34/CT-TW of the Politburo dated April 7, 2014 and other emulation and commendation documents showed that the Party and the State continued to affirm and promote the goodness and necessity of emulation and commendation in all aspects of social life.

Understanding the role and position of emulation and commendation in the new period, VCCI has carried out many activities to honour, reward businesses and entrepreneurs, accelerate the patriotic movement in the business sector to inspire and encourage entrepreneurs to contribute more actively to the cause of national industrialisation, modernisation and international integration.

VCCI has reviewed the entire work of honouring and commending businesses and decided to organise five awards for domestic businesses and entrepreneurs, including Exemplary Vietnamese Entrepreneur Award - Thanh Giong Cup; Exemplary Vietnamese Women Entrepreneur Award - Golden Rose Cup; Corporate Social Responsibility Award for companies doing well corporate social responsibility; Blue Ribbon Award for good companies employing people with disabilities; Ernst&Young (E&Y) Awards for entrepreneurs with good performances. These awards timely encourage enterprises and businesspeople to advance their creativity, seek opportunities in the face of hardships to develop and succeed.

The Party Committee, Executive Committee and Standing Committee of VCCI have actively cooperated with relevant unions at all levels to launch emulation movements, find new factors, popularise advanced models, good examples and good jobs within VCCI. As a result, the workload significantly increased 40 percent in the 2009 - 2014 period. The organisation of movements gradually helped improve efficiency and attitude.

Resolution 09 of the Politburo on construction and promotion of the role of Vietnamese entrepreneur force in the period of accelerated industrialisation, modernisation and international integration set the goal “Building a strong entrepreneur force with national spirit, political understanding, business culture, high social responsibility, competence, leadership, efficiency, competitiveness, active cooperation and participation in domestic and international production networks and value chains, and continued growth to reach Southeast Asian entrepreneurial level in 2020.”

However, the world economic situation is growing complicated and unpredictable, while international integration and competitive pressures of regional and global economies remain acrimonious. The domestic economy and business community are forecast to face continued difficulty. The simultaneous carrying out of two hard tasks of stabilising the macro economy and restructuring the economy to improve competitiveness and ensure sustainable development in the context of deeper integration at the back of the enforcement of many bilateral and multilateral free trade agreements such as TPP, Vietnam - EU FTA and the ASEAN Economic Community, is vital to the economy and requires the concerted efforts of the entire political and business communities.

Given opportunities and challenges in the country and the world, VCCI, the business sector and the entrepreneur force will uphold their achievements to sow the seed of patriotic emulation movement, and motivate and encourage enterprises, entrepreneurs, business officials, and workers to execute key tasks in the 2015-2020 period as follows.

Specifically, the business community will uphold the spirit of solidarity, bravery, wisdom, creativity and cooperation to overcome difficulties and challenges to fulfil their missions of creating wealth and prosperity for the economy and for the whole country; focusing resources of enterprises to push up emulation activities within their business, enhance competitiveness, gradually control the domestic market and strengthen business operations with foreign countries, especially target ones.

Promoting collective strength and wisdom of the business community to develop their business, develop the economy, and enrich the nation to help push up the perfection of institutions, improve the business environment and support sustainable business development; inspiring entrepreneurs and enterprises to do business with fair, transparent and equitable competition, thus helping restructure and shape the economy towards knowledge-based, high-valued economy.

Particularly, the business community will join hands to encourage and nurture Vietnamese entrepreneurship, building and preserving the deeply imbued entrepreneurial culture of Vietnam.

Every enterprise and entrepreneur will uphold their patriotism, unanimity and unity, express their virtue and wisdom, mobilise the strength of the sector to form the strength of time to overcome difficulties and challenges to develop their enterprises sustainably, earn personal wealth, and create prosperity for the business community and the country in the current context of deepening international integration.
