The Song Da Construction Corp, the leading investor of hydropower, has a series of underway hydropower plants such as Se San 3A, Thac Trang, Iagrai 3, Yakrongru in the southern
The company has just signed a US$68 million contract with Cap Nhi Tan Electricity Works Ltd Co (HPE), one of Chinese biggest suppliers of electricity equipment to provide synchronous electricity equipment and technical services for Tuyen Quang hydropower plant
The Industrial Park & Urban Development Investment Corp. (IDICO), the developer of power plants, also plans to invest in building three 255-MW hydroelectricity plants with the total capital of VND4,500 billion (US$286.6 million).
In 2005, some companies under the ministry are strengthening to invest in this aspect namely the Song Da Construction Corp., IDICO, the Central Construction Corp., the Vietnam Construction Import Export Corp. (Vinaconex), the Bach Dang Construction Corp and the Infrastructure Construction & Development Corp. (Licogi).
Hydropower now becomes an aspect that has high effects but needs big capital sources. Therefore, the ministry asks these units for careful consideration and suitable investment in the conditions of integration, difficulties in capital mobilisation, electricity consumption ability and electricity price in the coming years.
