CT-IN: A Prestigious Telecom Service Supplier in Vietnam

The Joint stock Company for Telecommunication and Informatics (CT-IN) is a leading enterprise in Vietnam in providing telecommunication system installation services and a prestigious supplier of telecommunication and information technology information technology equipment and materials. The company’s growth rate was put at between 10 and 15 per cent per year in the 2001-2003 period. The company occupies between 70 and 80 per cent of the market of installation and maintenance services for the two largest mobile phone networks in Vietnam, namely Vinaphone and Mobiphone. The company’s revenues were put at VND 100 billion in 2003. This was its highest ever figure, doubling that of the previous years before the company was equitised.

In the past, CT-IN was the Communication Equipment Repair Factory N0 1, set up in January 1972. It began to operate as a joint stock company under the name of the Joint stock Company for Telecommunication and Informatics from November, 2001. The key to the company’s success is its development of close operative relations with Vietnamese and foreign partners. Open relations have opened up new opportunities for CT-IN to acquire new technologies to satisfy its customers.

Having overcome many difficulties, the company has found its position in the Vietnamese telecommunication and information technology market. With its 30-year experience, CT-IN has been selected by the Vietnam Post and Telecommunication Corporation (VNPT) to provide periodical maintenance services for micro-wave equipment of post offices in provinces and cities nationwide. CT-IN is the third company in Southeast Asia and seventh in Asia to be appointed as an Advance Technology Provider (ATP) by Cisco System. The company is the only Vietnamese partner selected by UTStarcom of the US to supervise, and provide support and rescue services for the local Cityphone mobile network. Operating in both telecommunication and information technology, CT-IN can create a close production circle from production to service provision with excellent solutions for its customers. The company has partnered many globally famous telecommunication and information technology firms, such as Siemens, Fujitsu, Motorola, ATI, Ericsson, IBM, Compaq, Microsoft and Cisco. Having been aware of the market demand and the development of information technology in Vietnam, CT-IN has seen a great development in recent years.

In particular, CT-IN has always attached importance to human resources development and professional management to increase its competitiveness in the market, building a cultural environment in its business, thus striving for a sustainable development.

In 2000, the company set up a centre for information technology with around 30 programmers. After two years’ gaining experience in developing software products for foreign partners, CT-IN became an important partner, implementing complete contracts on programming important software products. So far, the company has completed nine projects with SysConSoft, MediaTech and Sie of Germany. Also, the centre has implemented outsourcing contracts to produce software products. After four years’ operation, the company’s centre for information technology can manufacture package software products. The package software products produced by the centre, including a financial management system for small and medium-sized enterprises, a management system for hotels and restaurants, cable network management system, and AIS software, have been praised by customers for their high quality and cost saving. A forte of CT-IN is that it has excellent professional technicians with 75 per cent of them being university graduates. The company has received training support from foreign partners for its staff members. Each year, the company provides maintenance services for over 1,000 micro-wave equipment and 400 optic transmission equipment and 300,000 lines’ switches. Nguyen Tri Dung, general director of the company, said that CT-IN was promoting investment in what the company did effectively, maintaining its reputation with products of high quality. With its intellectual treasure, CT-IN is confident in its capability to design and install large-sized networks, meeting speed, stability and safety requirements with a compatibility with state-of-the-art information networks.

On Novermber 12, 2004, CT-IN was granted with an ISO quality management certificate. This is another momentum for CT-IN to provide its customers best services.
