Yamaha Builds New Motorcycle Parts Plant

The Japan's Yamaha Motor Co., Ltd yesterday announced that it would establish a new company in the Vietnamese capital of Hanoi to produce engine parts for motorcycles after receiving approval from the Hanoi government on January 4.

The Yamaha's new company, called Yamaha Motor Parts Manufacturing Vietnam Co., has a total chartered capital of US$14.3 million, and is wholly Yamaha Motor Co.-owned.

The company covering 10 hectares in Thang Long Industrial Park in Dong Anh District will build a production factory on 2.04 hectares with an annual production capacity of one million die-cast motorcycle engine parts including cylinder heads and 900,000 steel parts like gears and transmissions.

The factory is expected to start operation by January next year and will supply motor parts to Yamaha Motor Vietnam and export to Japan.

Yamaha Motor Parts Manufacturing Vietnam Co. expects to earn US$20 million from sales of motorbike parts in the first year of operation.

The company will employ 540 workers.
