EVN to Earn $37.13Mln from Public Telecommunication
Electricity of Vietnam (EVN) strives to become the country’s official supplier of public telecommunication services in 2005 with the total revenue of VND538 billion (US$37.13 million), including VND31.7 billion (US$2.02 million) of profits.
At present, the corporation is cooperating with Viettel, the Army Telecommunication Company, to build and exploit South-North cable transmission line with the speed of 10Gb per second and make use of its existing lines.
Besides, EVN will put into operation connected points with post-offices in 64 cities and provinces nationwide, install equipment to supply Internet services in the third quarter of this year, exchange telecommunication infrastructure with partners like Viettel, Ministry of Police, Post and Telecommunication Corp. and FPT.
To achieve the goal of installing 500 base transmission stations (BTS), providing services for one million customers by the end of 2005, the corporation focuses on completing the construction domestic cable network in the second phase and expanding wireless telephone network to supply telecommunication services 64 cities and provinces’ centers.
