Agriculture-Aquatic-Forestry Exports up 4.9 Pct
Agriculture-aquatic-forestry exports in the first five months of 2016 reached US$12.18 billion, a year-on-year increase of 4.9 per cent, according to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.
Up to US$1.06 billion came from exporting 2.35 million tons of rice in five months, up 1.2 per cent in value and down 2.1 per cent in volume compared to the same period last year.
The export of coffee attained US$1.36 billion, up 10 per cent in value. Germany and the U.S. remained the largest importers, with the market shares of 15.58 per cent and 12.74 per cent, respectively.
The nation earned US$561 million from exporting 391,000 tons of rubber in five months, up nearly 20 per cent in value and up 20.5 per cent in volume.
As many as 119,000 tons of cashews were sold abroad, worth US$910 million, seeing the growth of 2 per cent in volume and 10 per cent in value. The U.S., China and the Netherlands were the largest importers, with respective market shares of 32.73 per cent, 15.4 per cent and 12.6 per cent.
Timber exports in five months obtained US$2.56 billion, down 1.8 per cent. Three largest Vietnam’s timber importers included the U.S., Japan and China, making up 67.39 per cent of the total.
Vietnam gained US$2.43 billion from exporting aquatic products, up 1 per cent. The U.S., Japan, China and the Republic of Korea were among top importers, together accounting for 51.74 per cent.
