Ha Tu Coal Company: Black Products - Golden Results
2004 was a successful year for Ha Tu Coal Company and was also the springboard for 2005 with the celebration of the 45th anniversary of its establishment. Through dozens of years of non-stop excellence, the company has been presented with the honourable titles of People’s Armament Hero and Labour Hero in the Renovation Period.
"We've never gained such positive business result as last year with total coal consumption of 1.476 million tons, meeting 117 percent of yearly plan and up 28 percent over 2003," revealed the company's director Nguyen Van Sinh. "The company earned VND444 billion, up 56 percent over 2003, and raised the average income to over VND2.4 million per month. Some workers even earned nearly VND5 million a month."
Sinh said the company had successfully realized four key targets: coal export (9 per cent dust) reached 450,000 tons/year, coal consumption via mining port reached 1 million/year, truck group transported 10 million TKm/year, and additional 14 million tons of coal was explored.
The company welcomed visits of State and Party leaders and received many prestigious awards such as Gold Cup for the Community Development and 1st Vietnam Glory. It is also one of few coal companies that were presented with Viet Gold Star (Sao Vang Dat Viet) for its six products.

It organized training courses for 774 staff last year with total expenditure of over VND447.570 million, and invested over VND1 billion to upgrade clinics and buy new medical equipment. Much attention is also paid to ensure safe working conditions for labourers.
Heading to the upcoming 45th anniversary, the company stands by its motto "Safety, Productivity, Development and Efficiency". Ha Tu Coal Company aims to produce two million tons of coal and sell of 1.86 million tons in 2005, earning a total of VND625 billion of which VND15.312 billion will be contributed to the State budget. The average income of labourers will be raised to VND3 million per month.
