Vietnam and China should capitalise upon advantages in construction industry, affirmed by Dr Vu Tien Loc, President of the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) and Mr Xu Ningning, Executive Chairman of the China - ASEAN Business Council, at their recent meeting at the VCCI Head Office in Hanoi. The meeting welcomed 23 Chinese construction companies exploring the Vietnamese market.
Speaking at the meeting, Dr Vu Tien Loc stressed that Vietnam attaches great importance to cooperation with China. Over the past 10 years, China has been the largest trade partner of Vietnam and the biggest export market of Vietnamese computers and components, natural rubber, coal, rice and building materials.
However, the current balance of trade between the two countries is not yet even, with China running a high trade surplus, he added. In the coming time, the two sides need to consider measures to have a more balanced trade.
He also affirmed that China has many world-leading companies and Vietnamese companies are willing to learn corporate governance and technology from Chinese firms.
Remarking on potential in the construction sector, Dr Loc noted that the Vietnamese construction material market is very diverse and potential. The best way for both sides is cooperation in production and distribution, he added, hailing Chinese companies for undertaking construction tender contracts in Vietnam, particularly those complying with the law and standing responsible to the environment.
Mr Xu Ningning, Executive Chairman of the China - ASEAN Business Council, asserted that Vietnam and China have a lot of similarities and this will be a good platform for the two countries’ enterprises to expand investment cooperation.
Speaking of this Chinese business delegation to Vietnam, Xu said, the delegation comprising of 23 big construction companies very much want to explore the Vietnamese market and seek investment cooperation opportunities with Vietnamese partners. Earlier, the delegation had a working session with the Vietnam Construction Association and achieved fruitful results. He hoped that, after this trip, the two sides will have more cooperation opportunities to boost up turnover and promote Vietnam-China relations in particular and ASEAN-China ties in general.
Also at the meeting, Chinese visitors and Vietnamese firms introduced and exchange cooperation and investment opportunities.
