The Vietnam Business Council for Sustainable Development (VBCSD) under the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) in cooperation with the Centre for Environment and Community Research (CECR) co-organised Hanoi Lake Cleansing Day at Thong Nhat Park, Hanoi.
The event attracted more than 1,000 volunteers from businesses, associations, unions, youth clubs and students from universities in Hanoi. They meaningfully cleansed Bay Mau Lake in the park, planted trees and sorted garbage, among other activities.

Mr Nguyen Quang Vinh, VCCI Deputy Secretary General and VBCSD General Secretary, affirmed, “The broad participation of businesses, civil servants, officials, students, young people and retirees at Hanoi Lake Cleansing Day showed the success in calling for response and agreement of various social components in environmental protection. VCCI/VBCSD will maintain and expand the scale of this significant event in the coming years."

Mr Truong Manh Tien, Chairman of Hanoi Lake Club and CECR Representative, said, “Hanoi lakes are a special property of Hanoi and the whole country. Without doubt, every lake in Hanoi is an important and characteristic natural heritage of the capital.”

He hoped that practical activities will spread the message of "Preserving heritages, protecting the future: Acting together to protect Hanoi lakes” to every Hanoi citizen to act together to make Hanoi lakes greener and cleaner.

He also introduced and launched the programme: “Preserving heritages - Protecting the future: Acting together to protect Hanoi lakes”.
