Vietnam Awards Excellent Exporters

Vietnam’s Ministry of Trade has granted the Most Prestigious Exporter 2004 title for nearly 200 local exporters, which reached excellent export achievements last year.

The title is given to exporters in 25 sectors, including garment and textiles, leather and footwear, agricultural produce and processed products, seafood, plastic and wood products, handicrafts, machinery, shipbuilding, chemicals, oil exploitation, tobacco, forestry products, construction materials, minerals and packaging.

The fishery industry added nearly 50 exporters to the list, and the agricultural products and clothing sectors contributed 40 and 25 names, respectively, tire department reported.

The award aims to encourage exporters to improve their quality and standing in the business community, and it is sponsored by the trade ministry, the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI), municipal and provincial trade departments and professional associations.

To receive the honor, businesses must have directly exported their products for the last two years, not broken the law, not have complaints lodged against them by their partners, and they must have a direct export turnover of at least US$1 to 20 million per year.

The selected exporters will be featured on the websites of the trade ministry, the VCCI, the Viet Nam Trade Promotion Agency (Vietrade) and Vietnamese overseas trade offices to increase their popularity among the international trade community.
