“Kobe businesses want to expand cooperation in Vietnam” was the message delivered by the Japanese Kobe visiting business delegation in Vietnam led by Mr Shiro Muramoto, Special Advisor to Mayor of Kobe City, at a recent meeting with Mr Hoang Quang Phong, Vice President of Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) in Hanoi. The event was organised on the occasion of the visit to Vietnam by the delegation.
Speaking at the meeting, Mr Shiro Muramoto, said, Japanese businesses in general and Kobe businesses in particular appreciated Vietnam’s policies on foreign investment attraction and its efforts in investment environment improvement. He affirmed that Kobe businesses are very interested in establishing investment and trade cooperation and expanding business in Vietnam, particularly in the supporting, processing and manufacturing industries.
Japanese companies also hoped that the Government of Vietnam and its localities will continue to facilitate and support them to carry out their business and investment plans in Vietnam successfully, thus helping enhance economic ties between Vietnam and Japan in general and business ties between Vietnamese companies and Kobe companies in particular.
Kobe City is the largest cargo transport in Japan and the fifth largest in the world by the value of goods shipped from Japan, he said, adding that it is a leading high-tech centre of medicine, aerospace, computer science, hydrogen energy and robotics. Kobe is famous for beef and Sake wine. The city is home to more than over 4,000 industrial manufacturers, with many using start-of-the-art technologies.
Kobe also robustly develops seaports. Freight vessels from Vietnam arrive in Kobe ports almost every day. A lot of Vietnamese people are living and working in the city of Kobe. Even, many places here have directions in Vietnamese besides Japanese. In addition to thriving diplomatic, political and economic cooperation relations between Vietnam and Japan, this is considered a favourable factor for the two countries to expand business cooperation.
VCCI Vice President Hoang Quang Phong also affirmed that Vietnam and Japan have achieved strong, extensive and substantive growth in all fields of cooperation. In recent years, VCCI has established close and effective cooperation relations with leading economic organisations in Japan such as JETRO, Nippon Keidanren, JCCI, Keizai Doyukai and local commerce chambers.
Regarding bilateral potential business cooperation in the coming time, he emphasised that small and medium enterprises (SMEs) account for about 98 per cent of all business entities in Vietnam and play a very important role. Kobe businesses can cooperate with Vietnamese SMEs in the areas where they are strong. Vice President Phong also hoped that more Japanese businesses in general and Kobe businesses in particular will come to invest in Vietnam.
