Mekong Delta Investment Forum 2005 to Open in April

VCCI Can Tho Branch together with local centres and clubs for promotion of trade, investment and tourism, will organise the Mekong Delta Investment Forum 2005 on April 29, 2005.

The annual forum organised by VCCI Can Tho Branch is supported and participated in by local authorities and enterprises. Forum 2004 with the slogan "Overview of investment in the Mekong Delta" gave a clear picture of investment and business activities in the region. It helped improve local economic development.

Forum 2005 will focus on "Trade and Business Opportunities in the Mekong Delta" providing businesses and investors the chance to meet and promote their investment and business activities.

Participants will be local authorities and enterprises, representatives of the Ministry of Planning and Investment, Foreign Investment Department, associations, economic schools and institutes, and businesses and investors from other parts of Vietnam. Also participating in the forum will be foreign partners, representatives of commercial sections, consulate generals, chambers of commerce, economic offices, and investors from Taiwan, Malaysia.

The forum includes:

· A seminar on the potentials and socio-economic development strategy of the Mekong Delta, analysis on the investment environment and economic prospect of the region.

· Can Tho city and other provinces introduce their development strategies and preferential treatment.

· Foreign investors and businesses present their cooperation and interested areas in the region.

· Trade cooperation linkage: direct exchanges of information and cooperation between investors and local enterprises.
