PM Assigns VCCI President as Vice Chair of National Council for Sustainable Development & Competitiveness Improvement

The Prime Minister recently signed a decision to assign Dr Vu Tien Loc, President of the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI), to be Vice Chairman of the National Council for Sustainable Development and Competitiveness Improvement.

The PM also decided to form the Committee on Public-Private Partnership (PPP) as a professional body of the National Council on Sustainable Development and Competitiveness Improvement.

The Committee on PPP will be chaired by the President of the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry. A representative of the Vietnam Association of Small- and Medium-sized Enterprises will serve as vice chairman of the committee.

Members of the Committee on PPP include some members of the National Council on Sustainable Development and Competitiveness Improvement; leaders of some research institutes, representatives of some professional associations, and national and international experts invited by the Chairman of the Committee. The membership list shall be decided by its chairman.

The National Council on Sustainable Development and Competitiveness Improvement is chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam.

The council is designed to advise the Government and the Prime Minister on matters related to sustainable development and competitiveness improvement.

The mission of the council is to consult the Government and the Prime Minister in building and implementing strategies, policies, plans, programmes, tasks and solutions for the effective carrying out of the National Plan of Actions to carry out the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development; improving the investment and business environment; raising labour productivity and the national competitiveness; and implementing the Vietnam Report 2035.

At the same time, the council submits to the Government and the Prime Minister consultation reports and proposals on measures to boost sustainable development, raise labour productivity and competitiveness; results of carrying out innovation, enhancing scientific and technological potential, and foster the capacity to approach the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
