Training on Social Security for Journalists
Recently, in Da Nang city, Vietnam Social Security (VSS) organized a Conference on "Training on social insurance (SI), health insurance (HI), unemployment insurance (UI) for journalists and reporters, specialized editors of news and press agencies "in 2019.
The conference focused on a number of topics on information processing towards sustainable development policy, the role of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor in ensuring workers' rights, and new regulations on social insurance policies and laws. The conference is also an opportunity for VSS to listen to ideas of exchanging, contributing and sharing experiences of journalists.
Speaking at the opening of the conference, Deputy Director General of VSS Dao Viet Anh emphasized: Over the past time, the entire SI industry continued to make efforts to overcome difficulties and challenges, successfully completed the assigned tasks, ensured better legal rights of participants in SI, HI and UI. As of March 31st, 2019, the number of people participating in compulsory SI was 14.6 million people; Voluntary SI was 295,000 people; UI was 12.78 million people; HI was 83.6 million people, accounting for 88.1% of the population. In the first 3 months, 44.4 million people were entitled to SI and HI regimes, in which, 2.7 million people enjoyed SI regimes and over 41.7 million turns of medical examination and treatment with HI.
In order to achieve these results, VSS always receives the attention of the Party leadership, the close and firm direction of the Government, the support and collective responsibility of the party committees and local authorities, especially the effective coordination and co-operation of news agencies and newspapers all over the country. The active and positive participation of journalism has made an important contribution in bringing the guidelines, policies and laws of SI and HI to businesses, people and the whole society. At the same time, from the reality of their activities, the press has actively reflected the aspirations of the people to the Party, the State and the SI industry, helping the process of developing, improving and implementing policies and law on SI and HI, increasingly meeting the needs and legitimate aspirations of the people.
It is known that in 2018, the coordination of communication between VSS and press agencies has achieved remarkable results. More than 10,000 reports and articles have been presented in various forms, provided full and vivid information about SI and HI policies and activities, contributed significantly to the completion of the political objectives of VSS, and ensured increasingly better benefits of SI and HI participants.
Deputy Director General of VSS Dao Viet Anh emphasized that 2019 was determined to be an important year of implementing Resolution 28-NQ/TW dated May 23rd, 2018 of the Central Executive Committee on SI policy reform; implementing Resolution 21-NQ/TW dated November 22nd, 2012 of the Politburo and preparing to celebrate the 25th anniversary of VSS (February 16th, 1995 - February 16th, 2020). The tasks of completing policies and laws on SI and HI as well as the organizing implementation require the orientation of new, true, accurate and effective propaganda. VSS always wishes to continue to receive the support of news agencies, newspapers, journalists, reporters and editors so that more and more people can properly and deeply understand SI and HI policies and laws, thereby actively participating in SI, HI for the purpose of sustainable development, building and perfecting a social security system where "no one is left behind".
