After signing a US$45 million credit agreement with the Ministry of Finance of Vietnam, the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the Provincial People's Committees of Hoa Binh, Nghe An, Quang Binh, Quang Tri and Thua Thien-Hue inked Agreements for the Second Greater Mekong Sub-region (GMS) Tourism Infrastructure for Inclusive Growth Project.

The project aims to transform secondary towns along the GMS’s eastern corridor into economically inclusive and competitive tourism destinations by improving transport infrastructure, urban services, and capacity for sustainable tourism growth management.

The ADB has a long and successful track record supporting inclusive and sustainable tourism development in Vietnam. This is the fourth tourism straight project funded by the ADB since 2003. A total of 12 provinces have to date received the bank’s tourism growth assistance, with the cumulative financing totaling more than US$110 million.
