PetroVietnam Posts Crude Oil Exports up 40.9 per cent

The Vietnam Oil and Gas Corporation (PetroVietnam) has so far this year shipped abroad 4.66 million metric tons of crude oil valued at US$1.7 billion, down 7.5 per cent in volume but up 40.9 per cent in value.

The corporation pumped 4.52 million tons of crude oil and 1.78 billion cubic meters of gas, down 9 per cent and up 23.6 per cent on year, respectively.

PetroVietnam plans to pump more than 24 million tons of crude oil equivalent this year, including 18 million tons of crude oil and more than 6 billion cubic meters of gas.

The corporation has been tapping gas from the Nam Con Son, Bach Ho (White Tiger), and Rang Dong (Dawn) oilfields and oil from wells transferred by the Vietnam-Russia oil and gas joint venture (Vietsovpetro).

It is accelerating the implementation of major projects namely the Dung Quat oil refinery in central Quang Ngai province and the Ca Mau gas-electricity-fertilizer project.
