The first direct flight from Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi to Frankfurt in Germany will take off on June 20, according to the national flag carrier Vietnam Airlines (VNA).
This is the second direct air route between Vietnam and Europe, after the first one that links Vietnam with Paris.
Flights from Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City to Frankfurt, transiting via Russia, take 14-15 hours, while the direct flight will last only 10-11 hours.
Vietnam Airlines has launched promotional prices for both direct routes to Paris and Frankfurt, with return tickets of US$738, more than US$100 cheaper then usual. The new prices will be applied from April 1 to April 15.
A return ticket from Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi to European cities such as Amsterdam, Athens, Copenhagen, London, Madrid, Munich, Rome, Stockholm, Milan and Manchester have been reduced to US$685.
Another special promotion campaign for flights to ASEAN countries has been announced this time, said VNA.
