HCM City Licenses Additional 71 FDI Projects

 

Ho Chi Minh City this year has licensed 71 foreign direct investment (FDI) projects with total investment capital of US$105.7 million, up 47.9 per cent in terms of the number of projects and 24.94 per cent in terms of capital against the same period last year, according to the municipal Department of Planning & Investment.

 

The newly licensed projects include 53 wholly foreign-invested projects worth US$21.1 million, 17 joint ventures worth US$84.4 million and one business cooperation contract worth US$120,000.

 

Most of the projects are owned by Hong Kong, Taiwanese, South Korean, Japanese and Singaporean investors. Thirty-one of the projects invest in the processing industry, 26 in real estate and consulting services and five in transportation and warehouses.

 

The city has also licensed 31 existing FDI projects to raise their investment capital by US$34 million, bringing up the total FDI capital the city has drawn in this year to US$139.7 million.

 

Ho Chi Minh City now has 1,705 FDI operational FDI projects with aggregate capital of US$12.44 billion.
