Vietnam-Daewoo Auto Co. (Vidamco), a branch of GM Daewoo Auto & Technology Co., has decided to reduce its retail car prices by US$1,000 to US$1,400 from now to July 31.
The move is aimed to increase its sales in the local market although the company has secured the second place in the local market with 2,006 units in the first five months of this year.
Customers who deposit 20 per cent of the car value will enjoy the price cut, a corporate official said.
The wholly foreign-invested Vidamco reduced the price of Lacetti 1.6 sedan by US$1,000 to US$21,600, Lacetti 1.8 by US$1,100 to US$25,300, Magnus Diamond 2.0 by US$1,200 to US$33,500 and Magnus L6 2.5 by US$1,400 to US$36,100.
According to the Vietnam Automobile Manufacturers Association (VAMA), 11 operational car joint ventures sold 2,993 units in May, up 67 units compared with April but down 172 units compared with March.
They sold 12,581 cars in the January-May period, up 30 per cent on-year.
