Govt Approves Feasibility Study for Bauxite Aluminum Project

The Prime Minister has approved a feasibility study of a bauxite aluminum complex project in the Central Highlands province of Lam Dong, which will be invested in by Vietnam National Chemical Corp. (Vinachem).

Accordingly, the corporation will exploit bauxite at Tan Rai Mine of the province to produce 600,000 tons of alumina each year.

The project’s investor will use foreign capital to import equipment under the government’s guarantee, and also use capital from the Equitization Supporting Fund of the Industry Ministry for the project.

The Prime Minister has also requested Vinachem that any supplement for the feasibility study must be submitted to the government in the third quarter of this year.
