SK Telecom helps unfortunate children

 

From June 10 to 19, 2005, the Korean SK Telecom group together with S-Fone and the Semiens Association provided surgical services free of charge to 200 children with facial deformations in Bac Ninh province. Dr. Baek Rong Min led a Korean delegation of 13 doctors and 5 nurses to Vietnam to help the children. SK Telecom financed all the expenses of the delegation, medical services, medicines and equipment for Vietnam.

 

It has become an annual activity of the group and the assistance is worth US US$120,000 a year. 2005 is the 10th year that the group has helped Vietnamese children with the slogan " For the children's smile" and the assistance for this year has increased to US US$150,000. Mr Kim Seong Bong, SLD General Director said: "In the past 10 years, especially since 2003, with the cooperation of S-Fone, the operation  has contributed to the relationship between the two countries. It is our long-term commitment and successful operation in Vietnam" Together with continued assistance, SK-Telecom will expand the S-Fone coverage to 40 provinces and nation-wide by 2006.
