The Vietnam Institute of Directors (VIOD) officially launched the Individual Membership Program (IMP) on 04th March 2022. This is the first program built and implemented in Vietnam for members of the Board of Directors (BOD). VIOD has developed this IMP on the basis of the best practices applied by the International Board of Directors Institutes.
Through a series of activities involving practical training, sharing, coaching, and mentoring from international and Vietnamese experts, IMP objectives are: connecting BOD members who are practicing and working in the profession of Corporate Governance; improving members' knowledge, skills, and good management experiences. At this event, VIOD also held the 3rd "Directors Talk" session for BOD with the topic: Information Disclosure Quality and the Board’s Role.

VIOD is the first pioneering professional organization in Vietnam specializing in Corporate Governance with activities aiming to raise awareness and promote corporate governance standards and best practices in the Vietnamese corporate sector. In March 2018, the Vietnam Corporate Governance Initiative (VCGI) formed VIOD with technical support from International Finance Corporation (IFC) and the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO). During nearly four years of operation, VIOD has implemented many intensive training programs (on Leadership, Corporate Governance, Board Culture, etc.) as well as seminars and networking events for those people involved in Corporate Governance; at the same time, building a Corporate Membership Program (CMP) with members from many large listed companies and industry groups. The launch of the IMP program is a new milestone of VIOD for the further development of the corporate governance profession in Vietnam.
Members of IMP will have the opportunity to attend networking events and professional seminars to cultivate, share knowledge and practice corporate governance; to access the Community Knowledge Library, information system, documents, reports on Corporate Governance, and new policies; connect with the network of CG professionals in Vietnam and the region; update recruitment opportunities and become a member of the Board of Directors; increase development opportunities, and expand business network and financial capacity,...
IMP includes 3 types of membership: Associate Member for new Board members and Executive Board; Full Membership for members of the Board of Directors and Board of Management for 12 months or more; Senior Membership for members of the Board of Directors and Executive Board with many years of experience. At the Launching Ceremony, VIOD also respectfully introduced the first pioneers as Honorable Fellow Members of the IMP program for those who are the Presidents/Deputy Presidents and General Directors of State-owned corporations and Vietnam's large listed private companies, jointly implementing Corporate Governance, Environmental and Social Governance (ESG) towards sustainable development and improving market transparency.
Institutes of Directors in the region have implemented the IMP successfully such as in Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, etc. to help the Board of Directors, especially in public listed companies, to improve their role and bring sustainable value to the capital market in the future.
The Program “Directors Talk”, with the topic “Information Disclosure Quality and the Board’s Role”, was held in the same event framework. This was a good opportunity for participants to discuss, exchange, and update the latest information from experienced experts from the Boards and the representative of the State management agency: Ms. Ta Thanh Binh - Director of Market Development Department, State Securities Commission; Mr. Vu Quang Thinh - Member of the Board of Directors of VIOD, CEO of Dynam Capital Management Company; Mr. Phan Le Thanh Long - General Director of VIOD, Founder and Board Member of AFA Research & Education. The role and importance of the Board of Directors in disclosing information on the stock market were also analyzed and shared in the Panel Discussion.
