IT Market:: Growth and Potential

“Though ranking after China and India, Vietnam is an IT market of high growth and great potential” said Mr Keith Budge, Senior Vice President, Oracle Corporation, Asia-Pacific, in a recent business trip to Vietnam. The Managing Director of Oracle Vietnam eight years ago (during 1997 and 1998) was satisfied with Oracle business in Vietnamese market in recent years. With technology and application programs, Oracle has helped Vietnamese government and businesses.
 
Oracle came to Vietnam in 1993 and established strong relations with the market through the activities of two offices in Hanoi and HCMC . Oracle helped Vietnamese businesses in technology and application in processing industry, banking service, financial solutions, etc. increasing business efficiency and turnover. Mr Frank Koo, Managing Director, South Asia Growth Economies, Oracle Corporation, noted that Vietnamese businesses are more interested in technology and application to increase their competitiveness in face of international economic integration and WTO admission. Vietnam will confront major challenges in financial, banking and export activities. The technical application, government management and public service become pressing for Vietnam.. And Oracle has met the demand of both public and private sectors. Though small, Vietnamese market has contributed to the success of Oracle in the last financial year.
 
In Asia-Pacific, Oracle has 1,500 partners and their efficient activities have created 80 per cent of Oracle turnover in this market. Oracle has supported not only its partners but also government and businesses . On September 6, 2005, Oracle granted Certified Advantage Partner Certificate (CAP) to PFT Vietnam, the 39th CAP recipient in Asia -Pacific. It confirmed the quality and efficiency of Oracle’s technology in Vietnam.
 
“Currently, the number of Internet users in Vietnam is equivalent to other countries of the region. The demand will increase in the coming years, profitable for both local and foreign companies”, Mr Keith Budge forecast.
