Oracle Vietnam was set up in 1993 with its main business scope being that of information, which has become an advantage of the Oracle Group around the world. Oracle experts have helped many managers all over the world to settle the problems of managing, utilising, sharing and securing information. So far, the group has provided its support to many governments and enterprises around the world.
Oracle is well-known as a world leading corporation in information storage. Taking part in the Vietnam ICT (Information and Communication Technology) in Finance in 2005, which was organised by the International Data Group and the Ministry of Finance of Vietnam, Oracle introduced products and solutions, and partners to Vietnamese customers. Frank Koo, managing director, South Asia Growth Economies, Asia Pacific, said that Oracle had worked with many countries and the group could apply its experience to Vietnam.
The Ministry of Finance’s requirement is to build a scalable system for the local financial sector, which can meet three criteria, including service, saving and security. A system which can be accessed easily is one of the first requirements towards a comprehensive solution for the Vietnamese taxation and customs services’ huge information network. This means that users can easily access information about revenues or the taxes of any enterprise.
Within its taxation reform strategy, the Vietnamese financial sector has set a target of applying information technology to its management, including the management of information about taxpayers, the automation of information processing to support taxation inspection and internal management.
This has proven an increasingly important role of ICT while the Vietnamese Government is making an effort to improve its services for the people. This will benefit not only taxpayers but also taxation and customs agencies. Simon Davies, solution director for government, education and health care in Asia Pacific, said that if Vietnam had an integrated system for both customs and taxation services, it would be easy to discover whether enterprises and individuals violated regulations on tax or not. Vietnam has a clear strategy and must create the most favourable conditions for its taxation and customs services. Commitment to its support is needed from top leaders.
Having established its representative office in Vietnam 12 years ago, Oracle has found it easy to understand the specific features of Vietnam, based on which the group want to create products, customisable to meet the requirements and demand of Vietnamese customers. In particular, Oracle wants to offer solutions and standards, suitable with the existing conditions of the Vietnamese taxation and customs services and international practice. To that end, Oracle is continuing to co-operate with localities to develop the most suitable products. Oracle pledges to provide technological and training support for project implementation.
Ho Thanh Tung, general manager of Oracle Vietnam in the Indochina region, said that over the past few years, Oracle had focused on developing its partner networks in localities. Via companies, Oracle transfers technology and knowledge, as well as solutions. In Vietnam, apart from the co-operation with companies in localities to provide solutions, products and services, Oracle has concentrated on providing training support for customers, agents and distributors. Tung stressed that in the coming time, Oracle would continue to promote its sales around the world, maintaining its top spot in the information storage industry.
