Currently, plastic packaging, made entirely from PE/PP plastics, has become a common type of packaging in all fields of manufacturing/business and daily life in the world. In Vietnam, according to estimates by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, each household uses and discards four plastic bags a day on average. About 30 billion plastic bags are used and discarded every year, with only 17% being recycled and reused and the rest being disposed of immediately after a single use.

According to research by scientists, landfilled plastic bags take centuries to decompose. Their existence in the environment will seriously affect soil and water because plastic bags prevent oxygen from passing through soil, cause soil erosion and make soil infertile and nonporous, thus slowing plant growth. More seriously, scientists also discovered that soil and water contaminated by plastic bags directly and indirectly harm human health. In particular, they contain PE and PP - the substances, when burned, generate carbon dioxide and methane that are harmful to health. Before this reality, compostable bags and packaging products made by high technology and decomposed in 24 months are gradually becoming a consumer trend. These products are made from organic materials (such as cornstarch and wheat flour). Changed by microorganisms in the natural environment, these products will transform into simple, soluble, or even organic substances decomposed into carbon dioxide and water. This is an optimal solution to reduce the use of conventional plastic packaging, and protect the environment and health while still ensuring the demand for use.
Soon capturing this trend, Haplast Group - one of the most experienced researchers, developers and providers of solutions and export packaging products in Hung Yen province - has been striving to develop a wide range of compostable bags and packaging products such as shopping bags, roll bags with core, food bags as well as compostable products like knives, spoons and dishes (made from bagasse).Haplast Group-branded products meet strict quality standards such as ISO 9001:2015, BSCI and BRC of Europe. In particular, with constant efforts in searching for the best way to work as a green firm, in October 2019, the group received the certificate of OK Compost Home for biodegradable packaging from TUV Company, Belgium for single-use compostable bags and packaging that are completely biodegradable in soil, water and carbon dioxide.
With a closed manufacturing process and international standards, biodegradable disposable bags and packaging produced by Haplast Group have been exported to many countries with green product requirements such as Spain, Belgium, Italy, France, the U.S., Australia and New Zealand.
In the coming time, with the goal of "Becoming a leading business ecosystem in Vietnam that provides eco-friendly packaging products and services", Haplast Group defines that development is based on technology, professional people, a strong system, pervasive corporate culture, gathering of domestic and foreign resources and provision of many valuable and useful products for customers, society and people. At the same time, Haplast aligns environmental protection in business and shows high responsibility to the community.
Haplast Group is also researching on biodegradable materials from Vietnamese agricultural products such as corn flour and tapioca flour to make biodegradable and eco-friendly packaging products that still ensure quality and safety for users. Since then, the group has increasingly affirmed the position and the global scale to realize the vision and long-term development strategy.
