AirFrance Reopens Direct Flights to Vietnam
An AirFrance Airbus 340 landed at Tan Son Nhat International Airport in Ho Chi Minh City on November 1 to mark the resumption of direct flights between Paris and Vietnam after a seven-month hiatus.
“From now on there will be five Air France flights from Vietnam to Paris every week: three from Ho Chi Minh City and two from Hanoi,” said Truong Thi Hoang Thuy from the French airline.
Therefore, the seven weekly flights via Bangkok that began last March have ceased, she added.
After the flight from Paris to Ho Chi Minh City, the flight back to the city to Paris took place on November 2.
Even though there are two fewer flights than before, there are actually more seats for passengers at this end as no room has to be reserved for any other passengers now that the Bangkok stopover has been eliminated.
In fact, Thuy says there are now 40 per cent more seats available at the Vietnam end.
Overall, the airline reports seat occupancy of 80 per cent on its flights to and from Vietnam.
As a special deal until the end of November, Air France is charging US$777 to fly economy to Paris and US$1,777 for a seat in business class.
